Prior to the Coronavirus , senior citizens used to get discounts on tickets in trains, which have been kept closed for the time being.

Amidst all this, a news report is being claimed on social media that from July 1, 2022, once again the exemption given to senior citizens in trains will be restored. Although this news is Fake News . Till now no announcement has been made by the Railways regarding this. This information has been given by tweeting on behalf of PIB Fact Check .

Tweeting from the Twitter handle of PIB Fact Check , it was said, ‘A fake media report is claiming that Indian Railways will resume the concessions for senior citizens from July 1, 2022. At present, concessions are being given by Indian Railways only to Divyangjan, patients and students.

Repeated appeals are made by the government not to believe in fake news until an official announcement is made . For this fact check has also been started by PIB. Its purpose is to provide correct information to the people and to warn against misleading news.
