Indian Railways: Lakhs of railway employees will get great news! Know from when will you get night duty allowance in salary

After a major decision of the Ministry of Railways, the night duty allowance has been stopped for the railway employees whose basic salary is more than Rs 43,600. More than 3 lakh railway personnel have been directly affected by this decision of the Railways.


New Delhi: There can be good news for lakhs of employees of Indian Railways. A major decision was taken on behalf of the Railways in the rules of Night Duty Allowance, under which railway workers with a basic salary of more than Rs 43,600 were not getting this benefit. But, now soon they may start getting this allowance. Actually, this matter is currently under consideration with the Ministry of Finance and a request has been made by the Ministry of Railways to resolve the issue at the earliest. According to sources, a positive decision can be taken on this soon.

3 lakh railway employees were shocked
In fact, after a major decision by the Ministry of Railways, railway employees whose basic salary is more than Rs 43,600, they stopped giving Night Duty Allowance. More than 3 lakh railway workers were affected by this decision. Night duty allowance is given to the drivers who run the essential train, its operators and the staff engaged in the duty of maintenance etc. Keeping in mind the interests of railway workers above the basic salary of Rs 43600, railway organizations have also raised a demand for its reinstatement.

Railway gave information
The Secretary of the Railway Board has recently issued a letter saying that this issue has been raised by the Ministry of Railways in the past as well. And then it was sent to the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance through Board’s Office Memorandum dated 9.9.2021 and 23 November 2021 for concurrence. The Secretary’s side also informed that the Department of Expenditure has sent a copy of the Office Memorandum dated December 16, 2021 to the Department of Personnel and Training. Not only this, a reference has been given to DoPT on this issue and reply from DoPT is awaited.
