Where will the facility be available
This facility is already applicable for the passengers of Southern Railway. Here they easily get tickets through UPI payment through ATVMs installed at stations. But now the Northern Railway has also started this facility for its passengers at the stations. Passengers can get their ticket by scanning the QR code from UPI based mobile apps like Paytm, PhonePe, Freecharge etc.
How will payment
Earlier, smart cards were issued to the people by the Railways. Which could be used in ATVM to buy tickets or passes. But now through this new facility, people will be able to buy train tickets from the UPI App as well. Also, the facility of buying tickets through smartcard will continue as before.
Just as travelers can pay for smart cards through debit cards or credit cards, you will also be able to make payments by connecting your UPI platform to the card.
Promotion of digital payment
Northern Railway started the facility of buying tickets through QR code so that digital payment can be promoted. Under this, by scanning the QR code, now passengers will be able to buy local, platform and passenger tickets. Apart from this, the season pass can also be renewed.
