If you take train tickets online, then know that the railway has changed the rules of ticket booking. A new rule has now been made for those who buy tickets online from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Under the new rule, now you will have to get the mobile number and email verification done before booking the ticket. Only after that you will be able to book tickets. New railway rule

Due to Corona infection, the Railways have made new rules for the passengers who have not booked tickets for a long time (Online Rail Tickets Booking Rule). Such people will have to first verify their mobile number and email to buy tickets from the IRCTC portal. Only after that you will get the ticket. However, passengers who have booked regular tickets will not have to go through this process.

Online ticket booking service

IRCTC sells tickets online (e-Ticket) under the Indian Railways. Passengers create login and password on this portal for tickets. And then take advantage of online booking. To create a login password, you have to provide email and phone number. That is, you can book tickets only after verifying email and phone number.

As soon as the corona havoc subsided, the trains started running on the track. In such a situation, ticket sales have also increased. At present, about eight lakh train tickets are being booked in 24 hours. Senior officials of IRCTC’s Delhi headquarters said that the process of mobile number and email verification has been started to ensure that the first and second wave of corona infection and the accounts which were inactive on the portal before that.

This is how verification happens

  • Verification window opens when you login to IRCTC portal.
  • Enter the already registered email and mobile number on it.
  • Here there is an option of editing on the left side and verification on the right.
  • You can change your number or email by selecting edit option.
    On selecting the option of verification, an OTP (One Time Password) will come on your number.
  • Your mobile number gets verified on entering OTP.
  • Similarly, verification will have to be done for email as well.
  • It is verified through the OTP received on the email.
