CPI leader demands Railway Minister to restore exemption
Now Communist Party of India (CPI) leader and MP Vinay Viswam has requested Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to restore the concession given to senior citizens in train ticket fare, which has been going on since the outbreak of the Covid-19 global pandemic. is suspended.

‘Crores of elderly people have been affected’
Vishwam wrote in a letter that crores of elderly people across the country have been affected due to the Railways’ decision to withdraw the exemption given to senior citizens. He said that this decision was taken in view of Covid-19, but this decision has not been reviewed despite repeated demands from senior citizens after the outbreak of global pandemic subsided.

The Left leader said that the Indian Railways was established with the primary goal of providing an affordable and effective mode of transport to the people of India. “However, since the onset of Covid-19, in the name of safety and prevention, these concessions were closed with the vague belief that this exemption will be available on the weakening of the global epidemic and the resumption of activities in the country,” Viswam said. Will be reinstated.

‘Pandemic used to remove concessions permanently’
He said, ‘Unfortunately, the Covid-19 global pandemic was used to remove these concessions permanently, causing great loss to the people of India.’ The CPI leader said that from March 2020 to March 2022, more than seven crore Senior citizens used the railways and the effect of the abolition of exemption is evident from this.

He said, ‘In view of this, I request you to restore the exemption for senior citizens in Railways. Many senior citizens are not in a position to pay the full ticket fee, so they are facing a lot of trouble as the exemption ends.
