Indian Railways: Indian Railways has issued instructions to prepare reservation charts in advance and implemented a new policy to ensure that passengers know the ticket status in advance.
Indian Railways has made key changes in the preparation of reservation charts to provide relief to railway passengers. The Railway Board has issued instructions to all zonal railways to prepare reservation charts for trains in advance. These new rules will enable passengers to know their ticket status in advance and plan their journey properly.
Why is the reservation chart so important? The reservation chart is a very important document in train travel. It is through this chart that it becomes clear whether a passenger has a seat or berth, is on the waiting list or is in RAC. Earlier, the chart for most trains was prepared just a few hours before the departure of the train or at the last minute. Due to this, passengers used to worry about ticket confirmation. Especially those who travel long distances and passengers traveling in night trains used to face difficulties in not knowing the seat status. To solve this problem, the railways have now implemented a new system.
Why is the reservation chart so important? The reservation chart is a very important document in train travel. It is through this chart that it becomes clear whether a passenger has a seat or berth, is on the waiting list or is in RAC. Especially those who travel long distances and passengers traveling in night trains used to face difficulties in not knowing the seat status. To solve this problem, the railways have now implemented a new system.
The Railway Board has directed that a reservation chart be prepared at least 10 hours in advance for all trains departing from 2:01 pm to 11:59 pm. This will enable passengers travelling in the evening or at night to know their ticket status in advance and make necessary arrangements. The same policy will also apply to trains running between 12 am and 5 am. A reservation chart will be prepared for these trains at least 10 hours in advance. This is especially useful for passengers travelling from other cities. They can know in advance whether their seats are reserved or not and can decide whether to go to the station or not.
According to railway officials, the advance preparation of the chart will help the passengers on the waiting list to know the status of their tickets in advance. Earlier, many people used to come to the station till the last minute hoping that their name would appear in the chart. Now that uncertainty will be reduced to a great extent. Also, after the chart is prepared, the seats vacated due to cancelled tickets will be immediately made available to other passengers. This will also improve the availability of tickets.
The Railways have clarified that these new rules will be applicable to all trains running across the country. These orders have been sent to all Zonal Railways, Divisional Railway Managers and concerned officers. Moreover, the Railway officials said that clear information about the chart timings will be made available in the ticket booking system and also on the Railway apps, so that there is no confusion for the passengers. Overall, this new policy will make railway travel more convenient and transparent. With information available in advance, passengers will be able to travel with better planning and without worries. This decision taken by the Railway Board is considered a key step towards improving the passenger experience.
