When it is the cheapest means, it is obvious that the crowd would also be more. To avoid this overcrowding, the railway provides the facility of reservation.

Means you can go anywhere by booking your seat in the train, but it is not possible that everyone gets a seat, but it is also not that after the seat is full, the railways should stop making reservations, because some people Plans also change because of which they cancel their tickets. So this seat will not remain vacant. Waiting is cleared from these seats only. There are 7 types of waiting in railways, so let us tell you what it is and which one is cleared first.

  • RAC – Reservation Against Cancellation. There is only one seat for 2 passengers. As soon as a confirmed ticket is cancelled, first of all the tickets of these people are confirmed and the entire seat is given. There are maximum chances of it being confirmed.
  • RSWL- This is such a waitlist which is available from the starting station of the train, it is called road site waitlist. For example, those who board the train from Delhi in the New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani will be put in this waiting list.
  • GNWL- This is General Waiting List. If a confirmed passenger traveling by your train cancels his ticket, then you will be given his seat. Provided there is no one else on the waiting list before you.
  • PQWL- Pooled Quota Waiting List. This waiting list is different from the general list. In this, those passengers come who are going to get on and off between the starting and the last station. For example, from the train going from Delhi to Kolkata, passengers who catch the train from Lucknow and get down in Patna.
  • NOSB- No sheet berth. This is not a waiting list. This is a type of ticket in which children below 12 years of age are allowed to travel at half fare. Seat is not given under this booking.
  • RLWL – Remote Location Waiting List. Smaller stations get seat quota in the train. These stations are located in far-flung areas and passengers boarding the train from there are put in this list. The chances of it being confirmed are very high.
  • TQWL- In spite of booking tickets in Tatkal, waiting list is called Tatkal Waiting List (TQWL). The chances of this ticket getting confirmed are very less.
