Railways is upgrading its service keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers. This will make it easier for the passengers to travel. IRCTC has given information about allotting lower berths to senior citizens easily. Recently, a passenger tweeted that I had booked a train ticket for my uncle. In this, I had given priority to the lower berth because he had a problem with his leg. Despite this, the Railways allotted him an upper berth.

Do booking like this

In response to the tweet made by the passenger, the Railways informed that if you book a ticket under the general quota, then allotment of seats is done on the basis of availability. But if you book under Reservation Choice Book only if lower berth is allotted then you will get lower berth.

Railways told that allotment is given to those booking under general quota only on the basis of availability. First come, first served policy works in this. There is no human intervention in the general quota in any way. Apart from this, in such a situation, you can contact TTE and talk for a lower berth.
