Indian Railways New Rule:- For upgradation from the existing class to another class, you will have to pay the reservation charge of that class. Along with this, you will also have to pay the difference between the fares of both the categories.

new Delhi. Indian Railways is the largest rail network in Asia and the second largest rail network in the world under single government ownership. It is also the world’s largest employer which employs about 1.5 million people. Indian Railways provides many facilities to the passengers. You will be surprised to know that you can upgrade your reserved ticket class in the running train itself. If you are traveling in Sleeper Class then you can book berth in AC class in running train itself.

The aim of Indian Railways is to provide a great travel experience to the passengers. That’s why railway rules are very flexible. Especially, in relation to berth booking. While it gives the passenger the opportunity to extend the distance of the ticket in the running train, it also gives the opportunity to upgrade his ticket and travel in another upper class. It is important to know here that only passengers traveling on reserve tickets can avail of this facility.

How to change class
You do not need to go anywhere to take advantage of this facility of Indian Railways. You get this facility while sitting in the train. Suppose you are traveling in sleeper class. If you wish to travel in AC class, then all you have to do is approach the TTE who is in the compartment at the time of travel. You have to tell TTE that you want to travel from sleeper class to AC class. TTE will allot you berth in AC class.

Fees and additional fare to be paid
For upgradation from the existing class to another class, you will have to pay the reservation fee for that class as well as the difference between the two classes of fare. The thing to note here is that you will get a berth in the upper class only when there is a vacant seat there. If the seat is not vacant, then you have to travel in your existing class only. That’s why it is not necessary that your wish will be fulfilled by the Railways.
