Indian Railway Canceled Trains, Due to Assam Floods: There has been heavy damage to railway tracks, bridges, roads and connectivity network. In many places the tracks have also been uprooted.

Indian Railways has canceled more than 25 trains due to bad weather and incessant rains. Because of massive landslides and waterlogging at many places in Lumding-Badarpur hill section of North-East Frontier (NFR) zone of Indian Railways. Due to this, there has been heavy damage to railway tracks, bridges, roads and connectivity networks in these areas. In many places the tracks have also been uprooted.

Due to the floods in Assam, life has been affected in many areas, due to which train services have also been affected. The landslides triggered by incessant rains have cut off rail and road connectivity with Assam’s Barak Valley and Dima Hasao districts and neighboring states of Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur.

2800 passengers stranded in train due to flood

The NFR zone had prepared all its machinery and controlled train services on the affected section in view of the severe flood situation. But still two trains, each carrying around 1,400 passengers, got stuck in the flash floods. These were train number 15616 Silchar-Guwahati Express at Ditochera station and train number 15615 Guwahati-Silchar Express at New Haflong station in Dima Hasao district of Assam. However, now passengers have been evacuated from these trains.
