2000 rupee notes

After commercial banks stopped accepting Rs 2,000 notes, people have now started standing in queues at 19 offices of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to exchange Rs 2,000 notes. RBI had announced withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes on May 19 this year. This note was introduced after demonetization in 2016. Notes will not be able to be changed in the bank

In its latest announcement, RBI had asked the public and institutions to deposit or exchange the Rs 2,000 notes in bank branches by September 30. Later this date was extended to October 7. After this, the facilities for depositing or exchanging these notes were stopped in bank branches. Now people can exchange Rs 2000 notes only in RBI offices.
