There have also been many such cases, in which taxpayers had applied for tax refund before the last date of filing ITR, December 31, 2021, but less amount of their tax refund has been credited in their account.

If such a problem has happened to you as well, then you have to first claim the balance amount in your ITR. For this, you have to file a Rectification Request. This request is filed under section 154 of Income Tax.

Know what could be the reason for getting less refund

Such problem is faced due to difference in tax credit. Applicants are also facing this problem due to not getting all the information properly on the new portal of Income Tax Department.

Even if there is a difference in advance tax, the amount of tax refund gets reduced. In such a situation, you can find out the reason through rectification request.

Know How to File Rectification Request

  • For this, first you have to visit the official website of Income Tax Department https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal to visit
  • After this, you have to go to the drop down menu and click on the option of ‘Rectification’.
  • After this, you have to click on ‘Order/Intimation to be rectified’ and select the financial year for which you want to place the rectification request.
  • After this, you have to click on the option of ‘Request Type’ and choose the reason for which you are filing this request.
  • After completion of all this process a reference number will be generated. Through which you can track your request.
