Taxpayers can check their Income Tax Refund Status very easily through the online process. The Income Tax Department has given a refund of Rs 67401 crore to 23.99 lakh taxpayers during the period from April 1, 2021 to August 30, 2021.


The Income Tax Department has given refunds of Rs 67,401 crore to 23.99 lakh taxpayers during the period from April 1, 2021 to August 30, 2021. The Income Tax Department has made this information available through its official Twitter account.

Providing information, the Income Tax Department has written in its tweet that “CBDT has issued refunds of Rs 67,401 crore to 23.99 lakh taxpayers during the period 1st April 2021 to 30th August 2021. Out of this 16,373 to 22,61,918 taxpayers. Refund of Rs. Crore has been given as Personal Income Tax Refund. Apart from this, Corporate Tax Refund of Rs. 51,029 Crore has been given to 1,37,327 taxpayers.

Many a times it is seen that taxpayers face difficulties in checking their tax refund status. But you can check the status of your refund online very easily through the website of the Income Tax Department’s Tax Information Network. Let us know about the whole process.

This is step by step process

First of all, you have to go to the website of Tax Information Network https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/oltas/refundstatuslogin.html. Here you have to enter your PAN number and fill the year for which the refund is pending. After this, you have to fill the captcha code and click on the option of proceed, your status will be shown on the screen.

Keep these precautions while filing ITR


Refund money is directly credited to the taxpayer’s account or sent to his address through check or demand draft. Therefore, it should be ensured that while filing ITR, the bank related details are filled correctly, as the refund amount is credited to the recorded bank account.
