New Delhi : Giving relief to the taxpayers, the Central Government has issued Income Tax Refund. The government has issued refunds worth Rs 2.40 lakh crore between April 1, 2022 and January 10. This is 58.74 percent more than last year’s corresponding period. PIB has given information about refund.

How to check refund status
The Income Tax Department allows taxpayers to check their ITR Refund Status. You can check the status of your income tax return after filing your ITR during the financial year. However, you can get a refund only until it is processed by the Income Tax Department.

Check ITR Status Without Login

  • First of all go to the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.
  • Now click on Income Tax Refund Status.
  • Once the new page opens, you will have to enter the acknowledgment number and valid mobile number.
  • In the next step you enter OTP and submit it.
  • Now the complete status will open in front of you.

You can also check income tax return with user ID and password. For this, you have to go to the e-filing portal and log in with the user and password. After this, you can get complete information by clicking on the ITR status option.

How and where to get the acknowledgment number

You need the acknowledgment number to check the status on the income tax website. Acknowledgment number is sent to you on mail during ITR filing. Also, you can take it by downloading the return receipt after logging in to the Income Tax website.
