IMPS Charges Revised – Check Latest Rates of SBI, HDFC, PNB and Canara Bank

If you transfer money through internet or mobile banking then this news is important for you. The country’s big banks have decided to impose transaction charges on IMPS (Immediate Payment Service). Earlier, where most banks used to provide this facility for free, now from August 2025, a charge will have to be paid for it.

What is IMPS?

IMPS i.e. Immediate Payment Service is a real-time payment service run by NPCI i.e. National Payment Corporation of India. Through this, you can send money instantly 24×7. Its maximum limit is Rs 5 lakh per transaction. SMS and IVR are not included in this.

Now if you send money through IMPS, keep in mind that different banks will have different charges. The charge is less for small amounts, but it can go up to Rs 20 for large amounts. Therefore, before making a transaction, definitely check the rules of your bank.

SBI – State Bank of India new charges

SBI has imposed charges on online IMPS from 15th August 2025.

Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000: Rs 2 + GST

Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 2,00,000: Rs 6 + GST

Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 5,00,000: Rs 10 + GST

Earlier all these transactions were absolutely free.

Canara Bank new charges

Up to Rs 1,000: No charges

Rs 1,000 – Rs 10,000: Rs 3 + GST

Rs 10,000 – Rs 25,000: Rs 5 + GST

Rs 25,000 – Rs 1,00,000: Rs 8 + GST

Rs 1,00,000 – Rs 2,00,000: Rs 15 + GST

Rs 2,00,000 – Rs 5,00,000: Rs 20 + GST

Punjab National Bank new charges

Up to Rs 1,000: No charges

Rs 1,001 – Rs 1,00,000:

From Branch: Rs 6 + GST

Online: Rs 5 + GST

Above Rs.1,00,000:

From Branch: Rs 12 + GST

Online: Rs 10 + GST

HDFC Bank’s new charges (effective from 1 August 2025)

Up to Rs 1,000:

Regular customer: Rs 2.50

Senior Citizen: Rs 2.25

Rs 1,000 – Rs 1,00,000:

Regular: Rs 5

Senior Citizen: Rs 4.50

Above Rs.1,00,000:

Regular: Rs 15

Senior Citizen: Rs 13.50

HDFC Gold and Platinum account holders will not have to pay any charges.
