If you transfer money through internet or mobile banking then this news is important for you. The country’s big banks have decided to impose transaction charges on IMPS (Immediate Payment Service). Earlier, where most banks used to provide this facility for free, now from August 2025, a charge will have to be paid for it.
What is IMPS?
IMPS i.e. Immediate Payment Service is a real-time payment service run by NPCI i.e. National Payment Corporation of India. Through this, you can send money instantly 24×7. Its maximum limit is Rs 5 lakh per transaction. SMS and IVR are not included in this.
Now if you send money through IMPS, keep in mind that different banks will have different charges. The charge is less for small amounts, but it can go up to Rs 20 for large amounts. Therefore, before making a transaction, definitely check the rules of your bank.
