citing BSNL SIM closure, many customers are getting messages and calls related to taking documents like Aadhaar etc. to complete KYC of SIM by cyber fraudsters .
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Bikaner Zone General Manager N. Ram told that the consumer needs to be careful with any such message or call. Do not reply to such calls or messages, BSNL never asks for any documents through messages nor does it send messages related to SIM shutdown from any personal number.
On contacting these thugs, they get a third party app installed in the consumer’s mobile and withdraw money from his account.
He said that in case of any shortfall in the documents by BSNL, the customer is always contacted from the landline number of the office itself. He said that the consumer should never open any link or install third party app in his mobile by relying on any such message or call, nor share his documents i.e. Aadhar card number or OTP received on mobile with anyone. .
According to the information received from the Consumer Service Center, action is taken to block that number on receipt of the complaint, but due to the use of new numbers daily by cyber thugs, the consumer himself needs to be alert so that such frauds are avoided. Can go
