IMD Rain Alert: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding heavy rain, thunderstorm, hailstorm and dust storm in the coming days. The weather is likely to remain very bad in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR. Let’s know, how is the weather going to be today?
IMD Rain Alert: The weather has once again taken a turn in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding heavy rain, thunderstorm, hailstorm and dust storm in the coming days. The weather is likely to remain very bad from 1 to 6 May especially in Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR and northeastern states. The speed of strong winds can reach 60 to 70 km per hour somewhere.
Heavy rain alert in Odisha
According to the IMD, there is a possibility of thunderstorms along with heavy rains in different areas of Odisha on May 1 and 2. Hailstorms may also occur at some places. The Meteorological Department has advised people to be alert.
Stormy rain with strong winds in Jharkhand and Bihar
According to the Meteorological Department, strong thunderstorms (speed 50-60 kmph) and rain with thunder are expected in many parts of Jharkhand and Bihar on May 1. A warning of heavy rainfall has been issued in Bihar on May 2.
Effect of Western Disturbance in Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir
A new and active Western Disturbance will enter North-West India from May 2. Due to its effect, there may be rain with thunder and strong winds in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from May 1 to 6. There is a possibility of hailstorm in Uttarakhand on May 1 and 2 and thundersquall at a speed of 50-60 km/h on May 1.
Dust storm and strong winds in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan
Dust storm and thunderstorm may occur in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on 1 and 2 May. Dust storm is expected in eastern and western parts of Rajasthan from 1 to 4 May. Apart from this, rain with strong winds (40-60 km/h) is also possible.
Bad weather in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha
Strong storm, thunder and rain is likely in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh between 1 and 3 May. Hailstorm may also occur in some areas.
Northeastern states will remain heavy for the next 5 days
Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh may receive light to moderate rain with thunder and strong winds for the next 5 days. Hailstorm is likely in Nagaland and Manipur on 1 May.
Weather will remain active in South India too
Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Puducherry may witness light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with strong winds for the next 7 days. A thundersquall warning has been issued in north interior Karnataka from May 1 to 4.
These states will be troubled by heat and humidity
Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to persist in Gujarat region, Saurashtra and Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.
Heatwave in Jammu and western Rajasthan
The heat wave will increase in Jammu division and parts of western Rajasthan and heatwave-like conditions may develop. People have been advised to avoid going out of the house during the afternoon.
