Heavy Rain Alert: Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many parts of the country this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that a low pressure area is located over the East Central Arabian Sea off the South Konkan coast. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many areas of the country for the next few days.

Heavy rains are expected in Konkan and Goa during 24 to 25 May. Heavy rains may occur in coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka during 24 to 27 May.

According to the Meteorological Department, extremely heavy rains are expected in Madhya Maharashtra on 25 May, and in the valley region of Tamil Nadu on 25 and 26 May 2025.

Apart from this, the weather activities suggest that conditions may be favorable for the onset of monsoon in Kerala during the next 2 days.

There will be rain with thunderstorms in Northeast India in the next 6 to 7 days. During this time, strong winds can also blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour. Heavy rains may occur in Assam and Meghalaya during 23 to 27 May. Heavy to very heavy rains are also expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till 25 May.

During 24 to 26 May, there may be thunderstorms and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph in West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Bihar. During 25 May, strong winds of 50 to 60 kmph may blow in eastern Madhya Pradesh.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds and heavy rains in Kerala, Karnataka during 24 to 28 May. Strong winds are likely to blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph.

Heavy rains continue in various parts of Kerala. IMD has issued an alert for six districts. IMD also said that monsoon is likely to hit the state in the next two days and heavy rains are expected in Kerala during the next seven days.
