The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, heat wave and humid heat in many states for the next few days. Very heavy rains have been warned in Northeast India, while many parts of South and Central India may receive rains accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Apart from this, the risk of heat wave will remain in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Heavy to very heavy rain alert in Northeast India

Heavy rains are expected in Northeast India for the next 5 days. Assam and Meghalaya may receive very heavy rains accompanied by strong winds between 15 and 16 May. There is also a warning of heavy rain between 15 and 18 May in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Effect of thunderstorm and lightning

Severe thunderstorm and rain is expected at many places in the central and southern parts of the country. Strong winds of up to 50-70 km / h can blow at some places. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of stormy winds and hailstorms in Telangana from 15 to 16 May. Strong thunderstorms of up to 70 km / h can blow in central Maharashtra on 15 May. The Meteorological Department has predicted strong winds in Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal on 15 May. Apart from this, there may be rain with thunderstorms in Andaman-Nicobar and Gujarat on 15 May.

Heat wave and heat wave also continue

According to the IMD, many areas will get relief from rain, while in some states, severe heat and heat wave will continue to wreak havoc. Heatwave warning has been issued in East Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan. Hot and humid weather is expected in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, warm nights can prevail in East Madhya Pradesh.

Warning for fishermen

Strong winds of 45-55 km/hr can blow in Somalia coast, Gulf of Mannar, Comorin region, Sri Lanka coast and Bay of Bengal. Strong winds are also expected in Andaman Sea and its surrounding areas. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go to these areas.

Rainy spell in South India too

Weather can worsen in South India too. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Rayalaseema are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds for the next 5 days. According to IMD, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal may receive heavy rains from 15 to 16 May. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain in the north and south interior regions of Karnataka from 15 to 18 May. According to the Meteorological Department, Kerala and Mahe may receive rain between 18 and 20 May.

Weather may also change in North India

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorms in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh between 18 and 20 May. Also, lightning and strong winds may occur in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana from 15 to 18 May.
