IMD heavy rain alert: People suffering from scorching heat and heat wave have got relief. On Saturday, rain in 16 states of the country from Kashmir to Uttarakhand-Kerala has brought down the temperature. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted lightning and hailstorm in Central, East, Peninsular India for the next four-five days.
IMD heavy rain alert:Â The weather remained pleasant in 16 states including Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday due to thunderstorms and strong winds at many places. During this, hailstorms occurred at some places in eastern Madhya Pradesh and Telangana and heavy rains were recorded in Kerala, interior areas of Karnataka and some parts of Uttarakhand. According to the Meteorological Department, this period of thunderstorms will continue in almost half the country for the next four-five days.
Heavy rain with thunderstorms will occur in many states
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds in North West India till May 7. There is a forecast of lightning and hailstorm in central, eastern, peninsular India for the next four-five days. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning with thunder in Northeast India from 5 to 8 May. The Meteorological Department said that due to the activation of a western disturbance in northern Pakistan and surrounding areas and a cyclonic circulation of upper air located in northwestern Rajasthan and another in western Uttar Pradesh, the weather is expected to remain relieving from the heat for the time being.
Heavy rain in many parts of Uttarakhand, Kerala, Karnataka
According to the Meteorological Department, during the last 24 hours, stormy winds blew at a speed of 70 km per hour at some places in Telangana. Dusty winds speed of 40 to 70 km per hour were recorded in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, South Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh etc. Hailstorm also occurred at many places in eastern Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.
38 goats killed due to lightning in Madhya Pradesh
38 goats died due to lightning in Ashok Nagar district of Madhya Pradesh. This incident happened in Dungasara village of Naisarai police station area. Naisarai police station in-charge Puneet Dixit said that lightning struck at around 2 pm, due to which the goats died. No human was present there at that time. Due to thunderstorms, the temperature remained much below normal in most parts of Madhya Pradesh during the last 24 hours.
Temperature dropped by 10 degree Celsius in Rajasthan
Due to thunderstorms and rain in many parts of Rajasthan, the temperature recorded a significant drop of 2 to 10 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours. Hailstorm occurred in Jhunjhunu and its surrounding areas on Saturday evening. During this, 2 mm of rain was recorded in Nagaur, while other places received less than 2 mm of rain. Chittorgarh was the hottest in the state on Saturday with 43.6 degree Celsius.
Maximum temperature drops in Punjab, Haryana
The maximum temperature in various parts of Punjab-Haryana was below normal. The maximum temperature in Patiala was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below normal. Similarly, the mercury in Ludhiana and Amritsar was 1.5 degrees and 4.8 degrees below normal respectively. In Haryana, the maximum temperature in Ambala was recorded at 35.4 degrees Celsius, which was 2.6 degrees below normal.
Snowfall on Lahaul-Dhauladhar peaks
Amid orange alert in Himachal Pradesh, snowfall occurred on Lahaul peaks and Dhauladhar hills on Saturday. Heavy hailstorm in Theog, Shimla, turned the Kufri-Fagu road white. The hailstorm has caused heavy damage to apple, pea and cauliflower crops. It rained in the afternoon in the capital Shimla and Dharamshala, the sun shone in the evening. Most parts of the state remained lightly cloudy on Saturday. The maximum temperature has decreased by eight to ten degrees.
