IMD Alert : Threat of cyclonic storm on these states, orders to close schools, possibility of heavy rain in many other places

According to the Meteorological Department, at present a low pressure area is forming over the south-east Bay of Bengal and the southern Andaman Sea, due to which there is a threat of cyclonic storm over some parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.


IMD Weather Update Today 1 December 2023: Many states of North India are shivering with cold, the increasing cold here has already started troubling the people, on the other hand, the states of South India are troubled by heavy rains. In its bulletin released today, the Meteorological Department has expressed the danger of cyclonic storm in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. At present, Tamil Nadu seems to be more affected due to which the government has given orders to keep schools closed in many districts, in many other states. The Meteorological Department has also issued a rain alert.

Danger of cyclonic storm in parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of cyclonic storm today, according to the Meteorological Department, at this time a low pressure area is forming over the south-east Bay of Bengal and the southern Andaman Sea, due to which Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. There is a threat of cyclonic storm looming over some parts of the state, scientists have named this storm as “Michong”. Understanding the situation, the NDRF team has been kept on standby in Chennai, along with this the administration has also given orders to keep schools closed in many districts.

Fishermen instructed to stay away from the sea

The IMD said that the low pressure area over the south-east Bay of Bengal and the adjacent South Andaman Sea has moved west-northwestwards on Wednesday and has stopped over the south-east Bay of Bengal, now over its west- It is likely to move north-westwards and turn into a depression eastwards over the Bay of Bengal, the weather department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea during this period.

Storm will affect these areas on 3rd and 4th December

Giving more information about Cyclonic Storm Michong, the Meteorological Department said that on December 3, there is every possibility of this storm moving towards west-northwest and gradually turning into a cyclonic storm over the south-west Bay of Bengal. After this, it will move towards northwest and it is expected to cross southern Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu coast between Chennai and Machilipatnam around the evening of 4th December.

Winds can blow at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour

The Meteorological Department has predicted wind speed ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour to 60 kilometers per hour in the South-West Bay of Bengal on December 1 during the cyclonic storm, the speed of the winds may further increase to 50 on December 2. -The speed can be between 60 kilometers per hour to 70 kilometers per hour.

Western disturbance will bring rain in MP and Maharashtra

IMD has expressed the possibility of rain and thundershowers in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra due to the change in weather, apart from this, the Meteorological Department has also given information about L Paschimo Disturbance which can affect the Western Himalayan region and the surrounding plains.
