IMD alert issued, These states will experience heavy rain, strong winds, check details

Today’s Weather: According to the Meteorological Department, cold waves are expected to continue in eastern Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand until November 16.

Furthermore, heavy rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe between November 16-18, coastal Andhra Pradesh during November 17-19, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 18-19.

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is expected in some states of South India. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe from November 16 to 18. Similar rain is also likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema on November 17 and 18. Heavy rain may occur at some places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 18 and 19. Between November 16 and 19, Andaman and Nicobar may experience showers with strong winds of 30–50 kmph.

Cold wave likely in these states

A cold wave is expected in some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on November 15th, and again in these two states on November 16th. Cold waves are also likely to persist in Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and eastern Rajasthan from November 15th to 16th. Light to dense fog is likely to occur in Northeast India and Uttar Pradesh for the next five days.

Cold wave alert in Jharkhand

The International Medical Center (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning for 11 districts, including Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, until November 17th . A ‘yellow alert’ has been issued for Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, Ramgarh, Ranchi, and Hazaribagh until November 17th.

The department stated that the minimum temperature in these 11 districts could drop by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next three days, bringing the temperature to around 10 degrees Celsius. In the past 24 hours, temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius were recorded in northwestern districts like Chatra, Latehar, Palamu, and Garhwa.

Cold will increase further in Bihar

Over the next 48 hours, cold will intensify in Bihar’s capital Patna, Gaya, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Kaimur, and Buxar, as well as in Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Nawada, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Saran districts. Northwesterly winds could reach speeds of up to 30 km/h, causing night temperatures to drop by 1–2°C, reaching 8–9°C in many places.

There will be no significant change in the temperature of western India

Minimum temperatures over western India will remain unchanged over the next 24 hours, but may drop by 3-4 degrees Celsius thereafter. Minimum temperatures over the rest of the country are also not expected to experience any significant changes over the next 24 hours.

Mercury dropped in these states

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMD), minimum temperatures dropped below 6°C in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and in many parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand . Temperatures of 7–10°C were recorded in some areas of Punjab. Temperatures of 7–10°C were also recorded in northern Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, central Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, northern Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
