Due to a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rainfall is likely in many parts of Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and coastal Karnataka from October 27 to 28. The department has also warned fishermen not to venture onto the coast.
Rain forecast in Tamil Nadu
According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area is active in some parts of central and east Bay of Bengal, due to which strong winds and continuous rain are occurring in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rain is likely in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Ranipet and Villupuram districts. Heavy rain has also been forecast in Puducherry.

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on October 27 and 30, Rayalaseema from October 27 to 29, Telangana from October 27 to 30 and remote areas of Kerala on October 27 and 28.
Lightning is also predicted.
The department has also predicted thunder and lightning in Tamil Nadu. Thunder, lightning and strong winds will prevail in Tamil Nadu from October 27 to 28.
Rain expected in Odisha too
Rain is expected at isolated places in South Odisha on October 28 and 29. Heavy rain is also predicted in Chhattisgarh on October 28. Light to moderate rain is expected at isolated places in West Madhya Pradesh from October 27 to 28. Thunderstorms have also been predicted in the region during this period.
According to meteorologists, this low-pressure system is part of a larger circulation system over central and northwest Bay of Bengal, which is expected to strengthen in the next 24 hours. The system will move northwestwards, causing moderate to heavy rainfall in the north coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
