Mumbai Weather Today: Due to heavy rains in Mumbai, life has become disturbed. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert due to rain in Mumbai. Train and bus services have been badly affected across the city. Heavy rains have lashed many parts of Mumbai including Kurla, Chembur, Sion, Dadar and Andheri.

An official said that the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert along with an orange alert, predicting heavy rains at some places of the city on July 1 and 2. Municipal officials said waterlogging was witnessed in many low-lying areas on Thursday due to the first heavy rain of the season.

In areas like Hindmata, Parel, Kalachowki, Haji Ali, Dockyard Road, Gandhi Market and Bandra, road traffic either slowed down or was closed due to water-logging on many roads. Due to heavy inflow of water and floods, the BMC closed the Andheri Metro for traffic in the western suburbs.

Due to heavy rains, many areas were flooded. At many places, people were seen passing knee-high water and many drivers were stuck in the jam for hours. According to official data, the city received 119.09 mm of rain from 8 am to 8 pm on Thursday, the western suburbs 78.69 mm and the eastern suburbs 58.40 mm.

There have been two incidents of building collapse in Kalbadevi and Sion areas amid incessant rains in the city. However, officials have informed that no one has been injured due to this incident. People have been evacuated safely.
