If you do not do this then you may have trouble getting the checkbook. Life cover up to Rs 30,000, which is available on completion of eligibility conditions on the death of the beneficiary.

Change Savings Account to Jan Dhan Account

It is very easy to convert any old savings bank account into Jan Dhan account.
Go to the bank branch first.
Fill a form there and apply for a RuPay card against your account.
Submit it to the bank after filling the form.
After this your account will be converted into Jan Dhan account.

What is the rule

  • RBI has prepared guidelines for Jan Dhan accounts. According to this, if a citizen does not have any official document including Voter id card, Pan, Aadhaar, he can still open an account.
  • In order to open an account by visiting a nearby bank branch, self-attested photographs will have to be given in the presence of the bank officer.
  • Photo must have sign or thumbprint. Then the banker opens the account.
    Then, to keep the account running, any valid document has to be made and deposited in the bank within 12 months, after which this account will continue to operate.
