Jalandhar DC Dr. Himanshu Agarwal has issued an order declaring a half-day holiday for all schools, colleges and other educational institutions under the jurisdiction of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation after 2 pm on October 6 due to the procession to be taken out on the occasion of the Pargat Diwas of Shri Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Maharaj.

It is worth noting that the Punjab government has already declared a complete holiday for educational institutions on October 7. Giving further instructions in the order, DC Himanshu Agarwal said that due to the Shobha Yatra and Prerat Utsav of Shri Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Maharaj, orders have been issued to keep liquor and meat shops closed at all places around the venue on October 6 and 7. Appropriate action will be taken against those who violate the orders issued.
