The Meteorological Department has forecast that heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue in North Gujarat till August 23. A new round of heavy to very heavy rainfall may start in the state of Gujarat from August 25.
Rainfall is likely to decrease further in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra, with heavy to very heavy rains at some places on August 21 and heavy rains at some places in these areas during August 22 to 24. Rainfall activity is expected to increase further in northwest India from August 22. A new low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal around August 25, due to which heavy to very heavy rains are likely over East India and adjoining areas from August 24.
Heavy rain likely in Maharashtra and Gujarat for 7 days
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue in North Gujarat till August 23. After this, a new round of heavy rains may start here from August 25. Heavy rains are likely to continue in Konkan and Goa, Central Maharashtra during the next 7 days, heavy rains will continue in Konkan till August 25 and 26. Apart from this, strong winds may blow on the Gujarat coast and Maharashtra coast for the next 5 days.
Heavy rain alert in many states including MP, Bihar, Jharkhand from 22 to 28 August
Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar during next 7 days, Vidarbha on 26 and 27, Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal during 21-26 August. Very heavy rain is likely at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal on 21 and 22, Jharkhand, Bihar on 23, Odisha on 22, 25 and 26 and Chhattisgarh during 25 to 27 August.
Very heavy rain (Rain Alert) in Punjab-Rajasthan from 22 to 26 August
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are possible in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana during the next 6-7 days from 22 to 26 August. Apart from this, there will be heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan as well. Heavy rains are likely at different places in Uttar Pradesh till 25 August. Heavy rains are possible in eastern Rajasthan during 22-24 August; Punjab, Haryana on 23rd; Uttarakhand during 22-25 August; Himachal Pradesh during 23-26 August. During the next 7 days, thunderstorms may also be seen along with very heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

Heavy rains are likely to continue at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh during the next 5 days, while very heavy rains are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Assam and Meghalaya on August 22. Light to moderate rains may occur at many places during the next 3 days. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.
