Heavy Rain Warning- IMD has issued an alert for the next 24 hours in these districts

Heavy rains Warning- Heavy rains are going to continue in Punjab for the next 24 hours. A fresh alert has been issued in this regard. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning in this regard.

Heavy rains are likely in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Moga, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Mohali, Kapurthala, Jalandhar and Ludhiana. In view of the alert issued by the Meteorological Department, schools in Punjab and Chandigarh have been closed till September 7.

According to IMD, a low pressure area is forming over northwest Bay of Bengal and is likely to become more pronounced in the same area in the next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue over northwest India for the next 2 days. Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

More than 1400 villages in 23 districts of Punjab are facing the brunt of floods and the situation is continuously getting serious. Seeing such a situation, the Punjab government has declared the entire state a disaster affected state. Along with this, relief work has been intensified. Along with the hills of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, the entire Punjab has been hit by floods due to continuous rains for the last three days in the plains of Punjab.

Due to the increase in water in the Sutlej and Ghaggar rivers, an atmosphere of fear is being created in the minds of the people of the Malwa region. The local administration is also keeping a 24-hour watch on the water level. Meanwhile, big news is coming out about the Bhakra Dam. The officials have informed that water will be released from the Bhakra Dam soon. Under this, about 5000 cusecs of water will be released into the Sutlej River. In this matter, Minister Harjot Bains has warned the people and appealed that the residents of the villages adjacent to the Sutlej River should leave their homes and immediately go to safe places.
