New York: In many states of the northeastern US, due to a snow storm on Tuesday, there was a power outage in many places.

Heavy snowfall caused power outages in New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermot, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to local government, more than 195,000 people in New York state were without electricity on Tuesday.

According to a New York state government release, 6 to 11 inches (about 15-28 cm) of snowfall was recorded overnight in the upper reaches of New York. Trees, branches and power lines were uprooted by the storm.

An Emergency Operations Center was activated in the state to coordinate requests for assistance from local governments.

Binghamton, New York, reported 15 inches (about 38 cm) of snow, and a travel ban has been imposed in Broome County due to uprooted trees and power outages.

New York Governor Cathy Hochul said people living in the affected areas should be prepared to deal with it for the next two to three days and make new plans.
