HDFC Bank: HDFC Bank has changed the rules related to its fees and charges. These changes have been made in HDFC Bank’s savings account, salary account and NRI account. These changes have come into effect from August 1. Its effect has also been made in cash transactions, checkbooks, online transfers (IMPS and NEFT) and some branch services.
Cash transaction limit reduced
Now customers will get a maximum of Rs 1 lakh cash transaction free every month for themselves or third party. Earlier this limit was Rs 2 lakh. The limit of free transactions will be 4 monthly. After this, a charge of Rs 150 will have to be paid per transaction.
If the cash limit goes above Rs 1 lakh, a fee of Rs 5 will be charged per Rs 1,000 (minimum Rs 150). The daily limit for third party cash transactions remains at Rs 25,000.
Changes in issuing chequebooks
Now savings accounts (including BSBDA) will get only one free chequebook of 10 pages in a year, earlier it was of 25 pages. Additional chequebooks will cost Rs 4 per page, while for senior citizens this rate will be less.
IMPS and NEFT charges reduced
Online IMPS transfers will now be charged Rs 2.5 from regular customers and Rs 2.25 from senior citizens for transactions up to Rs 1,000. Earlier it was Rs 3.5 and Rs 3 respectively. The fee for IMPS transfers above Rs 1 lakh has been reduced from Rs 15 to Rs 13.5.
New charges have also been fixed on NEFT branch transfers according to slabs. Transfers up to Rs 10,000 will cost Rs 2 (senior citizen Rs 1.8), between Rs 1-2 lakh Rs 14 (senior Rs 12.6) and above Rs 2 lakh Rs 24 (senior Rs 21.6).
Changes in other digital and branch services
IPIN regeneration is now free, earlier it used to cost Rs 40 (senior Rs 36).
Charges have increased on branch services such as balance certificate, interest certificate, address confirmation and copy of old records. For example, balance certificate will now be available for Rs 100 (senior Rs 90).
ECS and check return fees increased
ECS returns will now cost Rs 50 more than before. Check return fees have also increased, although the technical return fee will remain Rs 50 (senior Rs 45) as before. All these new charges and limits will be applicable across all branches and networks of HDFC Bank.
