Haryana government approved
According to a report by news agency PTI, the Haryana government led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, after taking approval from the Election Commission, approved the new excise policy in the cabinet meeting held in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Since Lok Sabha elections are going on across the country, the government first needed a green signal from the Election Commission on this decision. However, the new policy will be implemented only after the end of the Lok Sabha elections.
New policy will be implemented from next month
Lok Sabha elections 2024 have started from last month i.e. April 2024. So far four phases of elections have been held and three phases of voting are still left. Voting will be held in the last phase on June 1, 2024. After that, the results of Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be released on June 4. Liquor prices will not increase much
According to the report, after the implementation of the new policy, there may be an increase in the prices of liquor in Haryana, because in the new policy it has been proposed to increase the excise duty. However, it has not yet been told by how much the excise duty has been increased. Right now it has only been told that the proposal to increase the excise duty has been approved and the increase is minor.
Auction of shops will start from May 27
In the new policy, there is a proposal to increase the excise duty on both Indian Made Foreign Liquor i.e. IMFL and country liquor. That means, after the implementation of the new policy from June 12, the prices of both English liquor and country liquor are going to increase in Haryana. The government will also fix the minimum retail selling rate for imported brands in the coming days. After approval of the policy, e-auction of liquor retail shops will start from May 27.

Haryana Government had introduced QR code based track and trace system on IMFL and country liquor for the year starting from June 12, 2023. Now it has been decided to apply it to imported foreign liquor also in the year starting from June 12, 2024. For 2024-25, the state government has fixed the maximum basic quota of IMFL at 700 lakh proof liters and country liquor at 1,200 lakh proof litres.
