If you have information about illegal property, benami property or tax evasion of a person or company abroad, then you can send the information to the government. The Income Tax Department has introduced a new ‘online’ facility for this. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) gave this information on Tuesday. The person giving information will also get a reward. According to the scheme in force at present, there is a provision to award up to one crore rupees in the case of benami property and up to five crore rupees in case of tax evasion, including keeping black money abroad.

CBDT reported that the link was opened on the e-filing portal

https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, (http: //www.inkmtaxindiafiling.gov.in) for information on tax evasion or benami property holding has gone.

Under this facility, a person who has a Permanent Account Number (PAN) or Aadhaar Number, who does not have both, can also complain. It is an online facility and under the OTP-based procedure, anyone can file a complaint in three different forms under the Income Tax Act 1961 violation, Undisclosed Property Law and Benami Transaction Avoidance Act..

Once a complaint is filed, a specific number will be obtained from the department for each complaint and from that the complainant will be able to see the status of action taken on the complaint he has made on the weblink. In this new facility, any person can also be made ‘informer or informer’, for this he will get reward.

It is to be noted that this year till January 10, 2021, more than 5.95 crore income tax returns (ITRs) have been filed for the financial year ended 31 March 2020. The deadline for filing income tax returns for individuals has expired on January 10, while the deadline for filing income tax returns by companies is February 15.
