Good News to Taxpayers: Last date for filing income tax return extended, now you can file till this day

New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the last date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) till December 31. This is the third time that the date for filing ITR has been extended due to the problems being faced in the ITR portal. Earlier, the last date for filing returns for the current financial year was July 31, which was extended to September 30. Now the government has increased it again.

Submit January Tax Audit

Apart from this, the deadline for submitting tax audit reports and reports regarding international/domestic transactions has also been extended till January 15, 2022. This has also been extended for the third time. Earlier the deadline for submitting the report was 30 September, which was extended to 31 October. But now now the Center has again increased it to 15 January. Not only this, the deadline for submitting reports regarding international/domestic transactions has also been extended from 30 November 2021 to 31 January 2022.

Infosys has prepared a new portal

Actually, technology company Infosys has prepared a new portal for filing ITR, which was launched on 7 June. Earlier the website address was incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, which has now changed to incometax.gov.in. But this portal, designed to ease the process of filing returns, is constantly facing problems. Taxpayers are constantly complaining about this. This is the reason why more than 8 million ITRs have been filed so far for FY 2021 (FY21).

Many facilities have been given on the new portal

Many new payment methods have been added to the Income Tax 2.0 portal. Taxpayers will be able to make payment on this website through Net Banking, UPEI, Credit Card, RTGS and NEFT, the money will be deducted directly from their account. Apart from this, the processing of income tax returns will be faster on the new site, so that taxpayers can get quick refund. However, it has had several technical issues since its launch.
