It has been learned from sources that EPFO may soon announce to transfer interest for 2020-21 in the accounts of more than 6 crore subscribers.
Let us inform that the government has already given a green signal to transfer 8.5 percent interest on PF to the account of subscribers for the financial year 2020-21. Experts say that the Ministry of Labor has also put its stamp on this decision. Now EPFO will soon deposit 8.5 percent interest amount in the accounts of the subscribers.
EPFO had decided to retain the interest rate at 8.5 per cent for the financial year 2020-21. This interest rate is the lowest in the last 7 years. The interest was the same in the last financial year as well. In the year 2019, 8.65 percent interest was available on EPF and earlier in 2018 8.55 percent interest was given.
Let us inform here that in the last financial year 2019-20, due to the disturbance in KYC, many people had to wait for a long time of 8-10 months to get the interest.
Beware of fake calls
EPFO has advised its account holders to be alert from any fake calls. EPFO has alerted its 6 crore PF account holders about personal information and download of any kind of app. While issuing an alert on Twitter, EPFO has said, ‘EPFO never asks for UAN number, Aadhaar number, PAN number or bank details from its account holders on phone calls, nor does EPFO make any phone call to its account holder.’

Money is transferred to the EPFO account every month on behalf of the organization in which you work. This is a fixed amount, which is deducted from your salary and deposited in the PF account. Your organization also contributes the same amount to this account.
Check interest like this
There are several ways to check whether the interest amount has been credited to your account. However, EPFO gives information about transfer of interest to every subscriber by messaging.
You can also get the balance information in the account by sending a message yourself. You have to type EPFOHO UAN ENG on your mobile phone and send it to 7738299899. The last three characters of the message are for the language. If you want information in Hindi then you can send it by writing EPFOHO UAN HIN. Keep in mind that you send messages from the same mobile phone whose number is registered in UAN.
