Before the change in this rule, if someone else was found traveling by train on your confirmed ticket, then it was considered a punishable offense. Understand in simple words, if after booking the ticket, if you could not travel due to any reason, then you had to cancel the confirmed ticket.

Application will have to be given to the station master

Many times there was financial loss for railway passengers on cancellation of tickets. Railway has changed this rule. Indian Railways has provided a special facility to the passengers on reserved tickets. Under this, people who do not want to travel on a confirmed ticket can transfer the ticket in the name of someone in their family. To transfer the ticket, you will have to give an application to the Station Master. Only after completing this process, you can transfer your confirmed ticket to anyone in your family.

To whom can transfer



Rail passengers can transfer their confirmed tickets only in the name of their parents, siblings, sons and daughters, husband and wife. According to the changed rule, you cannot transfer your confirmed ticket in the name of a friend. When such a situation comes in front of people going to a wedding or party, the organizer of the wedding and party has to submit the necessary documents 48 hours in advance. Apart from completing the ticket transfer process by visiting the railway station in person, you can also complete this process online.
