Good news for pensioners! Arrears will be paid in 4 installments, up to 90 thousand rupees will come in the account, know details

Pensioners have been given a big gift by the central government. Orders have been issued for the next revision of pension of security forces personnel and family pensioners under One Rank One Pension. It will be paid in 4 half-yearly installments.


One Rank One Pension: The Modi government has given a big gift to lakhs of pensioners and family pensioners. In fact, on December 30, 2022, the proposal to amend the provisions of pension has been approved. The employees were demanding for a long time regarding the revision of pension.

Pensioners had also approached the Supreme Court regarding amendment in the provisions of One Rank One Pension Scheme. Under the order of the same government, widows of martyred soldiers and disabled pensioners will also be given this benefit along with family pension.

Additional burden of Rs 8450 crore every year on government exchequer

With this decision of the government, an additional burden of Rs 8450 crore will increase on the government exchequer every year. One Rank One Pension Scheme will be implemented from 1st July 2019. They will be paid dues for the period from July 1, 2019 to June 2022. For this, an amount of Rs 23638 crore will be given to the beneficiaries.

Payment of balance in four half yearly installments

The arrears will be paid to them in four half-yearly installments for the period from July 1, 2019, to June 2022. However, preparations have been made to pay the arrears in a single installment to the gallantry award winners including family pensioners and beneficiaries receiving borrowed family pension.

  • For this, an order has been issued by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India on 4th January. Under the order issued vide Ministry’s letter No. 12(1)/2014/D(Pen/Poll)-Part-II dated 7.11.2015 Reference is made to the provisions contained in para 3(v) of the S.O., which is regarding re-fixation of pension. In future, the pension of Defense Force Personnel will be re-fixed under OROP every 5 years.
  • The President has decided that the next revision of pension under the OROP scheme will be effective from 1.7.2019. The revision of pension is based on the principles adopted vide Ministry of Defense letter dated 07.11.2015 which are as follows:
  1. The pension of ex-pensioners will be re-fixed on the basis of pension of retired Defense Force personnel of the calendar year 2018 and this benefit will be effective from 01.07.2019.
  2. In the year 2018, the pension of eligible pensioners/family pensioners of defense forces will be re-fixed on the basis of the average of minimum and maximum pension of retired defense force personnel in the same rank and same service period.
  3. Pension will be protected for above average drawals.
  4. This benefit will also be extended to family pensioners including war widows and disabled pensioners.
  5. The arrears will be paid in four half-yearly instalments. However, arrears will be paid in one installment to all family pensioners including special/liberalised family pensioners and gallantry award winners.
  • Personnel who opt for leave with effect from 01.09.2019. 01.07.2014 (on or after 01.07.2014) under Rule 13(3)i(i)(b), 13(3)II(i)(b), 13(3)II(iv) or Army Rules 1954 Rule 16B or equivalent Navy or Air Force Rules shall not be entitled to the benefit of OROP.
  • Detailed instructions with tables for revision of pension for each rank and each category under the OROP scheme will be issued separately.
  • This issues with the concurrence of the Finance Division of this Ministry vide their ID Note No. 10(01)/2019/Finance/Pen dated 30.12.2022.
