The loan limit of farmers has not been increased since 2009. At the same time, new members of cooperative societies are also not being made for many years. Other farmer organizations, including the Bharatiya Kisan Union, have been demanding this continuously.

In the midst of the farmers’ agitation, the Haryana government is preparing to take a big decision for the farmers. After about 12 years, there is a plan to increase the limit of Kisan Credit Card by two times from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. The ongoing Member Credit Limit (MCL) is also to be started.

The file of the proposal is with Chief Minister Manohar Lal and opinion is being taken about it. This time the government can give this gift to the farmers soon with Harco Bank making a profit of Rs 82 crore.

The loan limit of farmers has not been increased since 2009. At the same time, new members of cooperative societies are also not being made for many years. Other farmer organizations, including the Bharatiya Kisan Union, have been demanding this continuously.

A complete blueprint has been prepared for doubling the loan amount and making new members. Significantly, HARCO Bank gives money to farmers for agriculture at 7 percent interest. To the farmers who deposit their installments on time, 4 percent state government and 3 percent central government gives rebate. In such a situation, it falls on zero percent to the farmer. HARCO Bank has

Given a loan of

eleven and a half thousand crore rupees to more than 11.50 lakh farmers in the state. Out of these, accounts of 8.17 lakh farmers are running continuously, while there are 3.50 lakh farmers who have become NPAs.

The bank is once again preparing to bring a One Time Settlement Scheme, so that recovery can be done from the farmers. HARCO Bank was started in November 1966. It has 19 central cooperative banks, 594 branches and 718 PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies) at the district level in the state.

The plan to double the limit is in the works. Chief Minister Manohar Lal is positive about it. Second, the emphasis is on recovery, so that the bank is not short of money. One time settlement scheme will also be introduced. Farmers should take loans and give them back, so that other needy farmers can also get benefits.

Arvind Yadav, Chairman, HARCO Bank.
