Good News For Employees: Dearness allowance will increase by three percent, DA will be 31 percent

The dearness allowance (DA) has been hiked by three per cent from July. 28 percent DA has been fixed from January-2021. After the 3 per cent hike, 31 per cent DA will be there. Apart from about 80 lakh central employees, all state employees and pensioners will also get the benefit of this.



Consumer Price Index stood at 336 in July 2020, 338 in August, 340 in September, 344 in October, 345 in November, 342 in December, 340 in January 2021, 343 in February, 344 in March, 346 in April, 347 in May . The index for June has also arrived, which stood at 350. Thus the 12-month average index is 342.90 points.

Harishankar Tiwari, former president of AG Brotherhood, an expert in salary and pension determination, said that according to the index, dearness allowance would be 31.18 percent. DA is taken in integer. In such a situation, DA 31 percent will be payable from July. DA has been fixed at 28 percent in January. In such a situation, there is a fixed increase of three percent in DA from July. The benefit of increased DA will be available from July. However, it may take a month or two for its announcement.

28 percent DA has been announced

The government, which is battling on the economic front due to Kovid infection, had frozen DA and DR from January 2020. The DA at that time was 17 per cent. Last month itself, the government has announced to give 28 per cent DA from July. In many departments, 28 percent DA will also be available from this month’s salary. There will now be a further increase of three per cent in DA, which will be payable from July itself. However, the announcement of the government is awaited regarding whether the employees will get its benefit or not.
