Good News: Central employees may soon get the benefit of Old Pension Scheme (OPS)! Government is preparing, know details

7th pay commission today news: There is good news for central government employees. Soon they can get the benefit of Old Pension Scheme-OPS. The Modi government at the Center is considering the long-standing demand of the employees. Opinions have been sought from the Law Ministry of the Center regarding the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Now waiting for the reply from the ministry.

Decision will be taken after the reply of the Law Ministry

The Central Government is considering to give Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to those government employees, whose recruitment advertisements were issued on or before December 31, 2003. According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, opinion has been sought from the Law Ministry on this issue. A decision on this will be taken after their reply is received.

Which employees can get benefits?

Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh told in Parliament that after the Supreme Court’s decision, the Central Government had put the matter under the Law Ministry. He said that the Department of Financial Services, Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoP&PW) may take appropriate decision with regard to exclusion of those employees from the purview of NPS for whose recruitment advertisement was issued on or before January 01, 2004 and they would be given old age. Can cover under Pension Scheme (OPS). If the matter is resolved, then a big benefit can be seen in the pension.

Question asked in Parliament

The Union Minister gave this answer in response to a question asked in Parliament. He was asked whether the Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare has sought views of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) and the Law Ministry to exclude those employees from NPS and include them in the old pension scheme in view of the Supreme Court’s decision. For whose recruitment advertisements were issued on or before 31 December 2003.

Benefits of old pension will not be available in CAPF

Recently, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai had given a statement in the Parliament that there is no idea to give the benefit of the Old Pension Scheme in the Central Armed Police Force. He was asked whether the soldiers who came to Paramilitary after January 1, 2004 would get the benefit of OPS or not? According to him, under the Central Civil Services Pension Rules 1972, paramilitary staff are getting pension and other benefits. However, they will have to stay in the New Pension Scheme.

Fewer benefits are available in the new pension scheme

Let us tell you, at the state level, agitations are going on regarding the Old Pension Scheme. Government employees have started uniting on one platform to implement the old pension scheme. On Sunday, employee organizations of various departments organized a meeting and made a strategy. After 2010, the government has appointed employees under the New Pension Scheme. In this scheme, the employees get very less benefits as compared to the old scheme. This does not secure their future. The government will have to pay tax on the money that will be received after retirement.
