Banks are going to remain closed on Friday 8 August. Banks will remain closed only in Sikkim tomorrow. Banks will remain open in all the other states. Banks will remain closed on Friday in Sikki on Friday due to Tendong Lho Rum Phat. Tendong Lho Rum Phat is a traditional festival of Sikkim, which is celebrated by the Limbu community with great reverence and gaiety. This festival is celebrated to express gratitude towards nature and the environment. ‘Tendong’ is the name of a hill that is considered sacred, and it is believed that this hill once saved the lives of people during a terrible flood. ‘Lho Rum Phat’ means ‘giving thanks to the earth’. In this festival, people worship the mountain with traditional songs, dances and rituals.
