Former Delhi Police Commissioner and Governor of several states Ved Marwah passed away

New Delhi, Jagran Correspondent. Former Delhi Police Commissioner Ved Marwah died in Goa at 8 pm on Friday. He was 87. He was born in Peshawar. He was also the Governor of Manipur, Jharkhand and Mizoram. According to information, he breathed his last at Asilo Hospital in Mapusa, Goa. His father immigrated to India after partition. Indian Police Service officer Marwah worked in various states in his 36-year career.

He was the Commissioner of Delhi Police from 1985 to 1988. According to the officers who worked with him, he was a strict officer and a soft-hearted person. He also served as governor in three states. Ved Marwah was the Governor of Manipur from 1999 to 2000, Mizoram from 2000 to 2001 and the Governor of Jharkhand from 2003 to 2004.



Ved Marwah, former Police Commissioner of Delhi and former Governor of Manipur, Jharkhand and Mizoram passes away at a hospital in Goa’s Mapusa. He was 87.

Led the police force in times of challenges



Ved Marwah also served as the third Director General of the National Security Guard between 1988 and 1990. On the death of Marwah, the Goa DGP tweeted that we are deeply saddened by the passing away of the great leader of the Police Force. Ved Marwah led the police force during times of challenges and served as the Governor of three states. Our prayers and condolences are with his family. 

Former Election Commissioner SY Qureshi also mourned the death of Ved Marwah. He said that I am saddened by the death of Ved Marwah. He was once my boss at JS Womens Developments. He was the president at St. Stephen’s College and I was the vice president. may his soul rest in peace.
