Flight booking started from Purnia Airport, Indigo and Star Air have got permission to fly

The construction work of the terminal building including the runway of Purnia Airport has been almost completed in the first phase. The terminal building under construction will have a capacity of 300 passengers at a time. The new terminal building to be constructed at a cost of approximately Rs. 350 crores will have a capacity of 1000 passengers at a time.

Ticket booking has started from Purnia, Bihar’s fourth airport. Purnia airport’s code ‘PXN’ has started appearing on Indigo’s site. Booking of flights between Delhi and Purnia has also started. However, the flight service will start after the inauguration. According to information, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Purnia airport on September 15. On the same day, the foundation stone of the second terminal building to be built at a cost of about 350 crores will be laid.

However, the airport authority has not given any official information yet. Its opening will give a new dimension to the development of Koshi and Seemanchal. So far, Indigo and Star Air have got approval to fly from Purnia. The paperwork is going on for the flight service of Indian Airlines and SpiceJet. In the initial phase, Indigo will operate direct flights from Purnia to Kolkata and Delhi. Star Air will start direct flight service from Purnia to Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

In the first phase, Purnia airport is being made a state of the art airport at a cost of about 400 crores. Facilities like apron, terminal building, cargo complex, AC chiller plant, STP, water and fire tank, electric sub station, aviation fuel farm, admin office, commercial plaza, surface parking, aerobridge etc. will be available here.
