The toll collection through Fastag increased to Rs 2,303.79 crore in December 2020. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said on Tuesday that toll collection was Rs 201 crore higher than the previous month. Similarly, toll transactions increased by 1.35 crore through Fastag. The government had mandated the implementation of Fastag from January 1, 2021. However, to avoid inconvenience to people, hybrid lanes (cash payment with fastag) have been allowed on national highways till 15 February.
“The toll collection through Fastag increased from Rs 201 crore in December 2020 to Rs 2,303.79 crore as compared to Rs 2,102 crore in November 2020,” NHAI said in a statement. – Sent.
According to the statement, “Fastag resulted in 13.84 crore transactions in December, which is 10.83 percent higher than the 12.48 crore transactions in November 2020. Also, it contributes more than 75 percent to the total toll collection with 2.30 crore Fastag users. “To achieve the target of e-toll tax, all toll payments will be through Fastag from February 15, 2021.
It is known that by 15 February 2021, the cash line will run on the toll plaza. After that only the vehicles of Fastag will be able to leave. If the vehicle is not fastened, then the toll plaza will have to pay twice the prescribed fee. The special thing will be that at the toll plaza, there will be a system to buy fastag at the counter of fastag. It may be noted that before 31 December 2020 was the last date for fasting, but NHAI has given some relaxation in this. Vehicle owners were upset over the implementation of the FASTAG from 1 January. Now their troubles have reduced. They have found time to fasten.

The government had earlier decided to implement 100 per cent fastag from January 1. Under this, vehicles were to be charged double penalty from January 1, if there was no fastag. Now vehicle owners have been relieved for a month and a half.
