The central government gives special facilities to the workers employed in the unorganized sector. The government provides social security to jobseekers under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESIC). The benefit of ESIC is available to those employees whose monthly income is Rs 21,000 or less. However, in the case of Divyangjan, the income limit is Rs 25,000.

Who can take advantage of the facility of ESIC scheme?

ESIC tweeted and said, Employees State Insurance Scheme (ESIC) is a social security scheme for insured persons. This scheme is applicable where 10 or more employees work in the organization. Both the employee and the employer contribute to the ESI scheme. For more details visit http://esic.nic.in.

Employee contribution

Both the employee and the employer contribute to ESIC. At present, 0.75 per cent contribution from the employee’s salary is made in ESIC and 3.25 per cent from the employer’s side. This scheme is run under the Union Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Registration for ESIC is done on behalf of the employer. For this, the employee has to give information about the family members. The nominee will also have to be decided by the employee.

Benefits available in ESI scheme-

The employees coming in this scheme and the beneficiaries dependent on them get many benefits. Under the ESIC scheme, the employee and his family get medical facilities. Free treatment in ESIC’s dispensary and hospital Employees get free treatment.

If the employee has a serious illness and is unable to do the job due to illness, then ESIC will pay 70% of his salary to that employee. Women get maternity leave in ESIC. You get 6 months salary along with maternity leave. 6 months salary is given by ESIC only.

On the death of the employee, ESIC gives Rs 15,000 for the last rites. On the death of the insured person, his dependent gets pension. Lifelong pension is given to the dependent by ESIC.
