EPFO: UMANG App has been very successful for Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) customers in emergency situations during the Covid-19 pandemic. EPFO offers its customers an opportunity to avail 16 types of services on the UMANG App from the comfort of their homes. These include important services for pensioners like checking their passbook, updating life certificate from mobile phone.



An active Universal Account Number (UAN) and a mobile number registered with EPFO ​​are required to avail these services. Ministry of Labor and Employment said, on UMANG App a member can make a claim, track the claim and know the status of the claim. A total of 11.27 lakh claims were made through the UMANG App between April and July 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an increase of 180 percent over the period between December 2019 and March 2020. During this only 3.97 lakh claims were made through UMANG App. Due to this UMANG app, services of EPFO ​​were not disrupted and people did not feel the need to visit the EPFO ​​office during the restrictions on traffic due to Corona virus epidemic.

According to the Ministry of Labor, the most popular service among the members through UMANG App was ‘View Memeber Passbook’. Between August 2019 and July 2020, this service was used 27.55 crore times through the EPFO ​​website, while 244.77 crore times this service was used through UMANG App during the same period. The popularity of the UMANG app increased tremendously during the Covid-19 pandemic.



EPFO has also provided View Pensioner Passbook facility along with updation of Jeevan Prerna Patra on UMANG App for its 66 lakh pensioners. Both these services have received a great response from pensioners. During the Corona virus epidemic, the View Pensioner Passbook service received 19.52 lakh API hits between April and July 2020, while the Jeevan Prerna Patra service was updated about 30 thousand times during this period.
