EPFO Update: The last date for linking Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar number has now been extended to November 30. Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EMPLOYEES’ PROVIDENT FUND ORGANISATION- EPFO) has also appointed an officer so that people do not have to worry about linking UAN with Aadhaar number.

EPFO has said that it has appointed Deputy Director Harsh Kaushik to help in UAN-Aadhaar linking. According to PF Commissioner Sanat Kumar, assistance can be taken by contacting Deputy Director Harsh Kaushik at ecr.help@epfindia.gov.in. He will help in resolving the linking related complaint. If any employee has any technical problem, then he should contact this address immediately.

If Aadhaar and UAN linking is not done before December 1, EPFO members may suffer a big loss. If an employee’s PF account is not linked with Aadhaar, then his PF money will not be able to be deposited and the employee will not be able to withdraw money from his PF account.

Insurance is also necessary

To keep your PF account active, it is necessary to link it with Aadhaar. Aadhar-UAN linking is necessary for the insurance cover available on the PF account. Because if your account is not linked with Aadhaar, Employee’s Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) will also not be able to be deposited. This will leave the employee out of the insurance cover.

Explain that the amount of death insurance benefit under Employee Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) has been increased to Rs 7 lakh. This insurance cover is available when the PF account holder dies untimely.

Link to UMANG App

EPFO has said that EPFO members can avail UAN-Aadhaar linking facility through UMANG mobile app. Aadhar and UAN account can be linked through UMANG App as follows-

  • Download the UMANG app through Google Play Store or Apple iOS.
  • Click on EPFO link.
  • Tap on ‘EKYC Services’.
  • Select the option ‘Aadhaar Seeding’ and keep your UAN ready.
  • Enter the UAN number and OTP will be sent to your phone number.
  • You enter all the details.
  • Your Aadhaar will be linked with your UAN number.
