The EPFO ​​had recently issued a circular requesting to increase the compensation amount from Rs 4.2 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. As per the circular, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 8 lakh will be paid from the welfare fund of the Central Board to the family members (nominee or legal heirs) of the deceased employee. The cause of death was not corona disease.


EPFO members should be aware that the instructions will be effective immediately and will be applicable to cases where the date of death is after the date of the circular. About 30,000 employees across the country are likely to benefit from the new decision of EPFO. The institute has also issued a circular informing its employees about this decision.

It is worth noting that the official Twitter handle of EPFO ​​recently tweeted about e-nomination. EPFO members will now have to go through some simple procedures to file e-nomination. There is no need to provide any document to the employer or the previous employer after e-enrolment. EPFO members can visit the official website of EPFO ​​at epfindia.gov.in for additional information and queries.

Steps to file e-nomination are mentioned

  • To know more visit the official website of EPFO.
  • Then select ‘Services’ from the drop-down menu.
  • PF Account Balance Check: Now you can check PF account balance through EPFO ​​website or through app.
  • Again the option ‘For Employees’ should be selected.
  • Now, select ‘Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTP)’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Then use your UAN and password to log in.
  • The ‘e-nomination’ will now have to be selected from the ‘Manage tab’.
  • Then ‘Provide details’ option will be displayed on the screen, and you need to click on ‘Save’ to proceed.
  • To change the family declaration, select Yes.
  • After that, select ‘Add Family Details’ from the drop-down menu. It should be noted that multiple nominees can be added.
  • To declare the total amount of the share, select ‘Nomination Details’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Then select ‘Save EPF Nomination’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Finally, select ‘e-Sign’ to generate an OTP and send it to the Aadhaar linked phone number.
  • Keep in mind that upon completing this process, your e-nomination will be registered with EPFO.
