EPFO Alert: Provident Fund (PF Account) is a means of saving for private employed people. The amount deposited in this fund comes in handy for the people in difficult times. A part of the basic salary of employed people is deposited in the PF fund.
People working in private sector keep changing jobs for their career growth. A rise was also seen after the Covid pandemic. In such a situation, if you are also changing your job or have already changed it, then after joining the new company, complete one task very carefully. This work is to merge EPF accounts.
At the time of joining every new company, a new PF account is opened with your old UAN number. But the funds deposited during job in old companies are not added to the new PF account. Therefore, the PF account holder has to go to the EPFO website and merge the account (EPF Account Merge).
Online merge facility
After merger of EPF accounts, the total amount will be visible in your single account. You can easily merge your PF account online. For this you will have to go to the official website of EPFO. Here you have to go to services. Then click on One Employee One EPF Account.
OTP will come on registered mobile number
After this the form to merge EPF account will open. Here you have to enter the mobile number registered with the EPF account. Then enter UAN and current member ID. After filling the complete details, OTP will be generated for authentication. OTP will come on your registered mobile number.
As soon as you enter the OTP number. Then the details of your old account will become visible. After this fill the PF account number and click on the submit button. Your request for account merge will be accepted. Then after a few days of verification your account will be merged.
UAN is very important
However, keep in mind that to avail any facility related to EPF online, you must know your UAN (Universal Account No). Besides, it is also necessary for UAN to be activated.
Find out your UAN like this
If you do not know your UAN, you can find it online. For this you will have to go to ‘https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/’. Then click on Employee Linked Section on the right side and click on ‘Know Your UAN’ number. Then you will have to fill the registered mobile number and captcha code.
After this click on Request OTP. Now a page will open in front of you. On this you will have to fill your PF account number and captcha. Along with this, date of birth, Aadhaar or PAN number will have to be entered. After this click on ‘Show My UAN Number’. You will get your UAN.
