Employees DA Hike: The increase in dearness allowance will put an additional burden of Rs 314 crore on the treasury of Uttar Pradesh government. On March 7, the Union Cabinet had approved a 4 percent increase in DA for central government employees and DR for pensioners. Soon other states are also expected to increase the dearness allowance of employees.
DA Hike for UP Employees: Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has given a good news to its employees and pensioners before Holi. The state government has increased Dearness Allowance i.e. DA by 4 percent. Besides, Dearness Relief or DR for pensioners has also been increased by the same amount. This decision will benefit about 10 lakh employees, 12 lakh pensioners and 8 lakh teachers of the state.
This increase in DA will be effective from January 2024. A notification in this regard will be issued soon by the state government. On Thursday, March 7, the central government had announced a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance for its employees and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners. The increase made by the Central Government is also becoming effective from January 1, 2024.
Additional burden of Rs 314 crore on UP government
The increase in dearness allowance will put an additional burden of Rs 314 crore every month on the treasury of Uttar Pradesh government. On the other hand, the take home salary of state employees will increase. At present the rate of dearness allowance is 46 percent, which will increase to 50 percent after the latest decision. The increase in DA has been approved by the Finance Department.
One of the main reasons for this approval given by the Uttar Pradesh government on the increase in DA immediately after the decision of the Central Government is Holi as well as the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Every political party is trying hard for the general elections to be held in April-May. Soon other states are also expected to increase the dearness allowance of employees.
